Brainerd, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in north central Minnesota are investigating the drowning death of a teenage boy.

A news release issued by the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office says deputies and other emergency responders were dispatched to a resort along Star Lake around 8:15 Wednesday evening after a 14-year-old boy fell into the water and never resurfaced.

Witnesses reported the young victim was paddle boarding when he fell into the lake. The Sheriff's Office reported that witnesses at Pine Terrace Resort were able to pull the boy out of the water but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The news release indicates the drowning victim and his family were staying at the resort, which is about 20 miles north of Brainerd. His name has not been released.
