Minnesota may not be in store for as much cold as we’re used to this winter; though snow is a different story. Let’s break it down.

There are two reasons people idle their car in Minnesota during the winter. One is completely unnecessary and the other could get you a ticket if done wrong.

Despite popular belief, March isn't Minnesota's snowiest month of the year. In some parts of the state, it isn't even in the top 3.

Much of Minnesota woke up to a dusting of snow this morning, but that tiny bit of snow can be very dangerous. Even more dangerous than a snowstorm!

We have yet to see a significant snowfall yet anywhere in Minnesota, but that could change this week (stay tuned).

Minnesota is served by two National Weather Service (NWS) offices: Duluth and Chanhassen (Twin Cities). These offices provide weather, water, and climate forecasts and warnings to the public, media, emergency services, and other agencies. Staffed 24/7 year-round, NWS meteorologists monitor statewide conditions, with additional support from the La Crosse, Wisconsin NWS office.

It now looks like we're in for for what the National Weather Service is calling a 'cold air outbreak' to kick off December.

The coldest temp ever recorded in the lower 48 is -70˚ on January 20, 1970 at Rogers Pass, Montana.
