Statewide Alert Posted For Missing Southern Minnesota Man
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A statewide missing person report has been issued for a southern Minnesota man who vanished last week while apparently visiting the North Shore of Lake Superior.
The alert was posted this afternoon by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension at the request of the Marshall Police Department. It says 36-year-old Justin Michael Sperl was last heard from on August 4 and indicated he was planning to travel to northern Minnesota for a solo camping trip.
A news release says the Marshall man might have taken his blue and green kayak with him. His friends reported receiving messages from him last Friday that he was near the Silver Creek Cliff Tunnel just north of Two Harbors. He has not been heard from since and failed to report for work.
Sperl is described as white, 6'7" tall, about 210 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. His vehicle is a 2004 silver Mitsubishi Endeavor SUV with Minnesota license plate BMK969.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Marshall Police Department at 507-537-6034.
