Every year, the Wisconsin DNR waives fees and licenses for a weekend in the summer, giving the public a free pass to enjoy a variety of outdoor fun.

Not only does this give Wisconsin residents the chance to enjoy a number of outdoor activities for free, but out-of-state visitors can try out some of the many outdoor recreation opportunities the Badger State has to offer as well!

That free weekend of outdoor fun just so happens to be this weekend, so here's what you can enjoy Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7:

One of the included things in this fee-free weekend is fishing, where all residents and non-residents can fish Wisconsin's lakes, rivers, and streams without a fishing license, inland trout stamp, or Great Lakes salmon stamp.

While you don't need a license, all other regulations still apply. That includes size and bag limits. You can get up to speed on those here.

Another freebie this weekend is access to Wisconsin's 50 state parks without needing to pay for a vehicle pass. You can explore a favorite park or discover a new one for free, plus a number of parks are also offering events and activities over the weekend.

Those events include birding hikes, nature-themed bingo and trivia events, educational programs, and fishing events (conveniently tied to the free fishing). You can see what events are happening around the state on the Wisconsin DNR's events calendar.

Also waived for the weekend are trail passes, so you can get out and enjoy some ATV riding on the hundreds of miles of trails across Wisconsin. Just like with the free fishing, all other laws and regulations still apply, even if you don't need a trail pass over the weekend.
