All The Shutouts The Minnesota Vikings Have Suffered Throughout Team History
While they haven't happened too often in Minnesota Vikings history, when your team gets shut out, it really stings.
Since the team's first season in 1961, Minnesota has collected fewer than 10 shutouts as of the time this article is being written.
While there have been plenty of games over the years where a single touchdown or just a field goal (or maybe two) is all the team could muster, not being able to score any points at all just feels like a whole different level of low.
Each of those shutouts feels kind of like a "bottoming out" of sorts - even though not all of these shutouts are tied to years when the Vikings had among the worst records in team history.

Take the 3-13 2011 season, for example. Despite being one of the worst seasons record-wise the Vikings have had in the team's history, Minnesota still managed to score at least 10 points in all but one of their games. The only exception was a 7-45 blowout the Packers handed to a Christian Ponder-led Vikings offense.
Further proving my point that these shutouts aren't necessarily tied to team records for a season, a playoff Vikings team got handed an embarrassing shutout in a different year. (Yep, I'm sure you know what game I'm talking about).
Here's a look at each time the Vikings got handed a shutout by an opponent as well as one bonus game with an outcome unlike any other in Vikings history.

There are a couple of interesting quirks to this list. Most notable are some of the names associated with these shutout losses.
Legendary Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton was involved in three of these shutout losses.
In addition, Bud Grant was the head coach for two of those shutouts.
That said, even some of the best figures in Minnesota Vikings history had some real dud games.
