Believe it or not, America's 249th birthday is right around the corner! Communities across Northern Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin are all getting ready to celebrate with parades, festivals, and fireworks shows throughout the long holiday weekend.

With Independence Day happening on a Friday this year, it's bound to be a three (or more) day celebration across the Northland. There are fireworks displays scheduled for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th this year, with plenty of other summer fun planned too!

We've once again pulled together information for this year's 4th of July fireworks shows and celebrations into a handy guide so you can plan out your holiday weekend festivities.

Thursday, July 3

Aurora, MN: Fireworks at 10 pm on July 3. This is part of Aurora's "Patriotic Days" celebration, which runs from July 1 through July 4. Events like the Miss Aurora coronation, medalion hunt, axe throwing, live music, street dance, and more are all part of the festivities. Eveleth, MN: Fireworks at 10:15 pm. This is part of Eveleth's two-day 4th of July celebration, which also includes a street dance, parade, and kids' games in the park. Find details on the Eveleth 4th of July website.

Nashwauk, MN: Fireworks at dusk, wrapping the first of Nashwauk's two days of celebrating Independence Day. Other events on July 3 include a car show and "pin-up pageant," and more fun is planned for the 4th. For more, visit the City of Nashwauk website.

Friday, July 4

Ashland, WI: Fireworks at 10 pm over Chequamegon Bay, with a full day's worth of festivities including a parade, live music, and more. Find more details on the Visit Ashland website.

Bayfield, WI: Fireworks at 9:45 pm from La Pointe on Madeline Island. More on the Madeline Island website.

Cloquet, MN: Fireworks at 10:25 over the St. Louis River from Veterans Park. This is part of a full day of festivities that includes a movie in the park, family games, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, car show, parade, 5K race, and more. Find more details on the Cloquet 4th website or Facebook page

Duluth, MN: Fireworks at 10 pm over the Duluth Harbor with viewing from Bayfront Festival Park. This is part of the annual "Fourth Fest", which also includes vendors and live music. Ely, MN: Fireworks at 10 pm on the east side of Miners Lake. This is part of a two-day celebration on July 4 and 5, which includes a flag raising ceremony, parade, and a day of live music on July 5 for what they call "Rock The Park". Find more on the City of Ely's website.

Grand Marais, MN: Fireworks at 10 pm over the Grand Marais Harbor. More on the Visit Cook County website.

Grand Rapids, MN: Fireworks at 10 pm over Lake Pokegama. Viewing from the Pokegama Golf Course, shuttles from the Essentia Clinic parking lot are available. Learn more on the Visit Grand Rapids website.

Hayward, WI: Fireworks at dusk behind the Intermediate School on 5th street, capping off an evening of fun that also includes music, food, and fun for the family. Learn more on the Hayward Chamber website.

McGregor, MN: Fireworks at 10:15 pm from Floe Island on Big Sandy Lake.

Superior, WI: Fireworks at Barker's Island at 10 pm, wrapping up a day of fun that also includes a parade at 11 am, car show, and other festivities throughout the day. Learn more on the City of Superior's website.

Tofte, MN: Fireworks display at dusk.

Tower, MN: Fireworks in the evening, following a day that includes a pancake breakfast, kiddie parade, grand parade, 5K and 10K races, live music, and more. Organizers say they will provide more information soon on the City of Tower website.

Saturday, July 5

Gordon, WI: Fireworks after dark at Warner Park/Mooney Ball Field as part of Gordon Good Neighbor Days, the community's 4th of July weekend celebration from July 4th through the 6th this year. Keewatin, MN: Fireworks at dusk, wrapping up two days of festivities. Friday's events include kids games, parades, and street vendors, with Saturday including a bags tournament, axe throwing, live music, and the fireworks at the end of the night. Learn more on the City of Keewatin website.
