This is the time of year when people across the Northland start to turn the page on winter and look forward to spring and summer traditions returning.

Of course, this winter has been far from normal with record warmth and a record lack of snow, so people are understandably even more ready to get into spring and summer routines.

One of the most popular traditions in the Northland once winter ends is paying visits to Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet. After a 2023 winter that featured a record amount of snow, Gordy's opened for the 2023 season on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

After a winter that crept into super El Niño territory, might Gordy's Hi-Hat open earlier for the 2024 season? They have been playing teasing their plans recently on their Facebook page.

On February 5 they posted a picture of their billboard, which simply said: "Wimpy Winter Brings Tasty Springs". They then added, "Our 64th season will be here soon!"

Then, on February 25, they posted another hint that they were planning on opening soon for the season.

The post said they were now hiring for all positions at Gordy's Hi-Hat and Warming House. That must mean an opening date was fast approaching.

Then, a more telling indication that Gordy's Hi-Hat had set an opening date arrived on Friday, March 1 when they posed a cute video showing young family members getting things ready.

The video included the message "The fourth generation is getting for a tasty Spring! We will see you in a few weeks." However, note that at the end of the video, the kids say "Spring is coming on March 20, gotta go to Gordy's".

However, officially the first day of spring is Tuesday, March 19. Therefore, since they opened on a Wednesday last year, it would be a great idea to mark your calendar and get ready for Gordy's Hi-Hat to open for its 64th season on Wednesday, March 20.

See you at Gordy's Hi-Hat on March 20!
