It's not news we wanted to hear, but it's one that's been heard more and more often in Minnesota and across the country: Another retail store is closing.

Times are tough these days for the traditional brick-and-mortar retail stores. Many once-profitable brands, like Sears and J.C. Penney, have had difficulties keeping their retail stores open and have faced bankruptcy. Even the storied Macy's brand announced earlier this month that it would be closing 66 stores across the country.

And it was just back in January that Wisconsin-based Kohl's said it would also be shutting the doors permanently at 27 different locations this year. A release from the Kohl's Corporation, which opened its first store in Brookfield, Wisconsin in 1962, said the stores marked for closing have all been 'underperforming,' and were permanently closed in April of 2025. Luckily, no locations in the Land of 10,000 Lakes were affected.

That's not the case for this next store, which is located in the busy southeast Twin Cities metro. BringMeTheNews reported that the Eagan location of Office Max, located in the Eagan Promenade shopping center, is currently having a closing sale, though no official date was listed for when the store will shut its doors for good.

While the Eagan store's closing may be a bit of an inconvenience, there are still 15 other Office Max locations in the North Star State that are still open, however. The Office Max website says you can find its locations in the following Minnesota cities:

This closing comes after Office Max has recently been closing other locations across the country, as well as closing its Minnesota location in Savage in late 2024. And while the entire Office Max chain isn't closing, the following familiar chains weren't quite as lucky.
