Unveiling Minnesota’s Top 10 Most Expensive Counties in 2025

Minnesota is a wonderful place to call home and consistently named one of the best places to live in the country, but living here isn't always easy on the wallet

Think about it: winters bring sky-high heating bills, while summers turn up the heat (and the electric bill) thanks to that infamous Minnesota humidity.

And when it comes to bills, the list is endless: mortgage or rent, car payments, student loans, internet, garbage, and all the others that seem to multiply when you’re not looking.

While the state is ranked as the 18th most expensive in America, expenses are significantly lower than places like Hawaii, California, and New York, but still higher than the majority of the country.

In Minnesota, the cost of living can vary dramatically depending on where you live. Some counties push that average even higher. In fact, residents of the priciest county are paying significantly more - I'm talking thousands more - than the national average for basic living costs.
