These Are Minnesota’s Highest Rated Tattoo Shops

Some of you might remember that a few years back, I put together a roundup of Minnesota’s best tattoo shops. Back in 2023, I was on the hunt for a new artist after my favorite retired.

Fast forward to today, and I still haven’t pulled the trigger, but I’m still reading reviews, mentally planning my next piece, and living for great tattoo inspiration.

I went back to that original list, and many of those shops are still crushing it in the review world. This time, I wanted to narrow it down even further though - we’re talking only the shops with 500+ glowing reviews on Google.

Leviticus is truly a shop above the rest. When you first walk in, you will be greeted with the best front of house I've ever experienced. They're kind and personable, and they truly make you feel welcome. On top of that, Leviticus is home to very talented artists, whether it be piercing or tattoo related.

Out of all the tattoo shops I’ve been to over the years, coast to coast and everywhere in between, Black Coffin has been the best experience ever. From the time I called in to the time I walked out, every single interaction was overwhelmingly positive— the artists were all super-friendly (to me, to other clients, to each other, to people on the phone and in the waiting area) and they all seemed genuinely happy to be there and supportive of each other’s work, which is definitely not always the case. Jackalope is SO COOL. I appreciated that doors were locked and masks were required. My artist was super receptive to questions and it just felt like such a safe, welcoming, and professional atmosphere. The booths are secluded enough to feel private, yet open enough to feel connected. My artist was extremely considerate about moving stencils, taking and posting photos, asking for input on colors, all that stuff. Very collaborative. Will be back. - Kristen on Google

Teal did a great job and listened and created a wonderful design that encapsulated what we wanted. Nikki is an amazing owner and you can tell that this shop means the world to her. Best tattoo shop in town!! Friendly, fun, professional, clean and inviting. Roger is one cool dude and a talented artist. You can tell how much he cares about his craft from his attention to detail and the effort put into every aspect of the overall experience. The tattoo itself(8 hours) healed up really well thanks in part to the aftercare products and instruction provided.
