Today, the second Friday in January, has sadly become know as 'Quitter's Day,' when many people give up on their New Year's resolutions.

I'm not judging. I mean, I didn't even make any New Year's resolutions this year; which means one of three things. Either I'm already perfect, and there's nothing to change (highly unlikely); I'm comfortably imperfect and love myself as I am, not feeling a need to change (lazy); or as much as I want to change or need to change I know I will never stick to it (extremely likely, bordering on sure thing).

Today is less than two weeks into the new year, and we're already quitting in droves? I am generally known as Mr. No Will-Power, and even I think I would have lasted more than ten days. (Then again, maybe not.) I can barely finish writing this article.

Quitter's Day is the day that that experts say that nearly 80% of Americans quit their resolutions. What? Eighty percent. Suddenly I look like the genius for not making any in the first place. Why do we make them?

Common resolutions include exercising more, losing weight , quit smoking, or saving money. While that all sounds fine and good, we tend to go too hard, too quickly, instead of taking small steps.

The number one reason people may give up is because their goals are unachievable or idealistic.

According to an article on NationalToday.com

The key to not quitting something you started is to not just decide to do something but to be totally devoted to doing it. The second key is persistence, and the third is to get in with a group or club doing the same thing.
