45-year-old Matthew Adamson of Rochester was charged in the first Rochester-area case last November as a result of an undercover sting investigation that was conducted by the Rochester Police Department.
The criminal complaint in that cases alleges he attempted to solicit sexual acts from a girl he believed was 13 years old, who was actually an undercover officer.
The other local case accuses Adamson of recording and saving videos of several female detainees while they were changing their clothing in a changing room at the Olmsted County Jail.
The criminal complaint says the videos were discovered on two external hard drives during a search of his home several days after he was formally charged in the first case.
Former Olmsted County Deputy Indicted in Federal Child Porn Case
In a news release issued Monday, the U.S. The Attorney's Office for Minnesota announced that Adamson has been indicted for production and possession of child pornography and coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct.
Federal court documents accuse Adamson of producing child pornography and in some cases secretly recording 12 and 13 year old girls multiple times from 2015-2023.
He’s also accused of coercing a minor girl into having sexual contact with him and was possessing sexually explicit images and videos of minors, the news release says.
Adamson was arraigned in federal court on Monday on three counts of production and attempted production of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography, and one count of coercion and enticement.
The date of his next federal court appearance has not been announced.
Adamson previously entered not guilty pleas to six felony charges and five gross misdemeanor charges stemming from the two Rochester investigations.
He’s scheduled to stand trial for the local-level cases in August.
