Danbury, WI (KROC-AM News)- Two Minnesotans lost their lives in a Wisconsin traffic crash over the holiday weekend.

Emergency responders were alerted to the crash by OnStar early Saturday morning. Responding deputies found one vehicle with three occupants upon arrival. 

A news release issued by the Brunett County Sheriff’s Office says the deadly crash occurred in the 28000 block of East Bass Lake Rd., which is just south of the Minnesota-Wisconsin border community of Danbury.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Layne W. Leitner of Bloomington, and front seat passenger, identified as 34-year-old Kyle R. Orloske of White Bear Lake were pronounced dead at the scene. 

The third occupant, whose name has not been released, was airlifted from the crash scene to a hospital for further care, the news release says. An update on the person's condition is not available. 

The preliminary crash investigation indicates the vehicle left the rural two-lane road and continued off road for about 120 feet before crashing into a tree shortly after 2 a.m. 

Authorities say alcohol was suspected of being involved in the crash. The Wisconsin State Patrol is reconstructing the deadly incident and the fatal crash is under investigation.
