
Three Rochester Residents Hurt in I-35 Crash Near Hinckley
Hinckley, MN (KROC-AM News) - Three Rochester residents, including a young child, were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on I-35 in east-central Minnesota on Saturday.
The State Patrol says the crash occurred around 11:20 AM at the Hinckley exit in Pine County. Three vehicles were involved.
Pickup Truck Triggered Chain-Reaction Crash in Construction Zone
The preliminary crash report says the Rochester residents were in a small SUV that was stopped in a northbound lane of the freeway in a construction zone when a northbound pickup truck collided with their vehicle, causing it to crash into a second pickup truck. All three vehicles came to a rest in the northbound lanes of I-35 at the Highway 48 interchange.
SUV Occupants Taken to Essentia Hospital With Injuries
The driver of the SUV was identified as 43-year-old Chen Xiao of Rochester. His passengers were 42-year-old Zhiyoung Qian and 9-year-old Meiyu Qian, also of Rochester. They were all transported to Essentia Hospital in Duluth with non-life-threatening injuries.
The State Patrol says the drivers of the two other vehicles were not hurt. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing seatbelts.
