Growing up in the Twin Cities, I was able to visit the Mall of America, specifically Camp Snoopy, a few times each year. I have lots of great memories running around the indoor amusement park with classmates and my siblings, trying to get the best spot in line, and seeing just how many times we could ride the roller coaster or the log chute in a day. Well, fans of one of the original rides that is still operated at the park are going to be disappointed if they are headed that way in the near future, as the ride has been closed.

The Mall of America Posted About The Ride Being Closed

The mega mall took to social media this week to let parkgoers know that one of the original rides at the indoor amusement park was going to be closed for a few weeks for routine maintenance and cleaning.

Attention Riders

The Log Chute will be closed September 15 - October 3 for it’s annual ride maintenance!

The good news for fans of the ride is that it will only be down for a few weeks while it gets checked out, as well as cleaned up.

It's Part Of Keeping An Amusement Park Going

Believe it or not, the maintenance schedule for the rides at what is now called Nickelodeon Universe is posted online for visitors to the mall and amusement park for planning purposes. I didn't realize just how many times the park shuts down a different ride in a year! Fun Fact: The Pepsi Orange Streak actually undergoes maintenance twice a year.

Back In Time For MEA

The good news for parents who want to share the thrill of the big drop on the chute with their kids is that the ride is expected to be back up and running by the first full week in October, which is still a few weeks before the annual exodus known as MEA.

You can watch an online review of the log chute below. It's from 5 years ago, which is one of the most recent reviews on the ride that has been delighting parkgoers since the mall opened in August of 1992.
