Which Duluth Area Restaurants Are Open On Thanksgiving This Year?

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and one of the centerpieces of the big November holiday is food. While many people across the Northland might be doing the traditional homemade meal at home, that isn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea.

Many holidays see businesses close so employees can celebrate the holiday at home as well, but that doesn't mean you're stuck without any restaurant options in the Duluth - Superior area.

Whether you're looking to feast with family (or maybe you just want to get away from the family) without spending a bunch of time in the kitchen, there are thankfully a number of restaurants around the greater Duluth area that will be open and ready to serve you.

Here's a rundown of some of the restaurants that will be open for Thanksgiving this year around the Twin Ports area. If I missed one of your favorites, let me know and I can get it added!

8 Restaurants Open On Thanksgiving In The Duluth-Superior Area For 2024

Pickwick

Duluth's historic Pickwick Restaurant not only has some great views, but also will be serving up some fantastic food on Thanksgiving this year. They will be open from 11 am to 4 pm on Thanksgiving with reservations available from 11 am to 3 pm. Their offerings will include a traditional turkey dinner option as well as other items like Canadian walleye, scampi pasta, and ribeye. Learn more here.

Tavern On The Hill

This popular Woodland neighborhood restaurant will be serving up a Thanksgiving feast, offering what they call a traditional holiday offering. Both dine-in and carryout are welcome for this meal option which will include things like turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and stuffing. Tavern on the Hill will be open regular hours on Thanksgiving, opening at 11 am and closing at 10 pm with the kitchen closing at 9 pm.

Blackwoods

A sister restaurant to Tavern, Blackwoods, will be doing a traditional Thanksgiving meal either as a dine-in or catered option at all three of their locations - Duluth, Proctor, and Two Harbors.

In order to dine in, you do need to make reservations in advance. The meal includes classics like turkey, gravy, cranberries, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and more. All three locations open at 11 am on Thanksgiving, with the Duluth and Proctor locations open until 10 pm and the Two Harbors location open until 8 pm. In addition, Blackwoods is offering a full family meal for 6 people that includes a whole roasted turkey, stuffing, potatoes and gravy, corn, pumpkin pie, and more. Orders need to be placed ahead for this. Learn more here.

Silos Restaurant

The restaurant located in the Pier B Hotel complex along the Duluth Harbor will be open on Thanksgiving from 11 am to 8 pm, serving up a Thanksgiving buffet. Herb-roasted turkey, chicken wild rice soup, garlic mashed potatoes, and pie from the Rustic Inn are part of the offering. You can see the full menu and learn more here.

The Rendezvous

While they're still finalizing their plans for hours and any Thanksgiving specials as of the day I am writing this, this popular Scanlon bar & restaurant will be open on Thanksgiving. If you're looking for something different on Turkey Day, their regular menu of burgers and sandwiches are phenomenal.

Restaurant 301

Right on Superior Street in Downtown Duluth, Restaurant 301 is offering what they call "Four-Course Thanksgiving", which will feature a soup, salad, main course that includes turkey and sides, and pie for dessert. They will be serving from 11 am to 5 pm, with reservations recommended.

If you're looking for a Thanksgiving buffet in Superior, Barkers Island Inn has you covered! They're serving from 11 am to 4 pm with reservations required. Oven-roasted turkey, baked mac & cheese, wild rice pilaf, smoked ham, and a salad bar with a variety of desserts are part of the offering. Learn more here.

Black Bear Casino Buffet

The Buffet at the Bear will be offering a special Thanksgiving Dau menu from 11 am to 9 pm, which features traditional items like roasted turkey but also will include things like barbecue ribs, grilled lamb chops, and shrimp scampi.

Other Options

A couple of other options that don't quite fit with the rest but keep you from preparing your own meal include:

• DECC Annual Thanksgiving Day Buffet - 2024 marks the 35th anniversary of this annual community dinner, which serves up all of the traditional Thanksgiving meal items. It is available in the City Side Convention Center from 11 am to 3 pm.
• OMC's order-ahead Thanksgiving turkey - They prepare a wood-smoked turkey that will feed 10-15 people as well as a quart of turkey stock. You pick it up cold before Thanksgiving, but they provide instructions for heating and a recipe for gravy. It helps with what might be the most stressful part of preparing Thanksgiving dinner.
