If you're looking for a unique centerpiece for a decorating project, or just a fun piece of ski memorabilia, you are in luck, as one Minnesota resort is getting rid of the old to make room for the new.

For over 50 years, two chairlifts have done the heavy lifting taking millions of skiers to the top of Spirit Mountain in Duluth, but those lifts have been removed to make way for a new $3 million chairlift that was recently named Highline in a community naming contest.

How to Get a Piece of Duluth’s Ski History

But what is done with the old lift chairs? Well, that's up to you. Spirit Mountain is offering the public a rare opportunity to own a two or three-person chair from one of the historic ski lifts. Three-person chairs are $100, and the two-person chairs are $500.

The chairs are being sold online, and at the time of posting this, only the "double jaw lift single chairs" were available, so you'll need to contact them about the triple-person chairs that were listed on Facebook Marketplace to see if any are still available.

A New Era for Spirit Mountain

The new lift is installed and ready to start transporting skiers for another winter season, which could start anytime now. The new Highline chairlift is faster and more efficient than the previous lifts, plus it provides high safety standards and more comfort for riders.

Anyone that wants to grab one of these lift chairs will need to pick it up in person at Spirit Mountain's Grand Ave Chalet. Pick-up times can be arranged for weekends between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
