Now that the year is officially over, we've gotten news of the trending names parents were giving to their newborns in the year that was.

The team at the Aspirus St. Luke’s Birthing Center in Duluth just published a list of the top names given to babies born at their facility in 2025, serving families in the Twin Ports and elsewhere in Northern Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin.

Aspirus St. Luke’s says their staff helped deliver hundreds of new babies to the Northland over the last year. Here are the most popular names they saw given to newborns in 2025.

Most popular boy names of 2025 in the Northland

When it comes to boys names, there was no clear leader in popularity, but there were a group of names that did prove most popular in 2025.

The hospital says they saw a 10-way tie for the most common boys name given in the Northland in 2025. Those names (in alphabetical order) are as follows:

  • Barrett
  • Bennett
  • Carson
  • Charlie
  • Henry
  • Hunter
  • James
  • Luke
  • Mason
  • Oliver

Some pretty classic names in that list, for sure!

Most popular girl names of 2025 in the Northland

In girls names given in the Northland last year, there was more clarity in terms of what the most popular names were.

Olivia claimed the top spot for most popular girl name of 2025.

Behind that, there was a five-way tie for the second-most popular girl name of last year. That tie was between the following names:

  • Amelia
  • Annie
  • Ella
  • Josie
  • June

Going beyond the most popular names, Aspirus St. Luke’s shared some of the more creative and unique names given in 2025. Those named included:

  • Thielen (Perhaps someone an Adam Thielen fan?)
  • Astreya
  • Kalliope
