Popular Duluth Festival Gets Renamed Ahead Of This Year’s Reimagined Event

A popular Duluth summer festival is getting a new name and some new events ahead of the 2025 edition of the event.

Long known as Downtown Duluth's Sidewalk Days, the event's website is showing off a new name and some newly-branded events ahead of when it is scheduled for this year.

The new name, as it is billed on the organization Downtown Dululth's website, is now "Downtown Duluth Days". As in years past, it is once again scheduled for July.

This year's newly-named Downtown Duluth Days is planned for Wednesday, July 9, and Thursday, July 10, 2025.

While the full list of specific details for this year's event has yet to be announced, there are a couple of notable highlights already revealed.

New events for Downtown Duluth Days

As of today, there are two main events that have been announced for the event, with more on the way.

The first announcement is a rebranding of a popular element of Sidewalk Days over the years. With the new event name, the car show will be getting a new sponsor.

Long sponsored by Kolar, the classic car show will once again be held on the first day of the downtown event, this time sponsored by the new Tanner's Express Carwash. The new car wash was announced last fall, but has not yet opened. It will be the presenting sponsor for this year's Wednesday night car event.

The car show will be from 5 to 8 pm on July 9.

The other event, something new for this year, is a block party on Thursday, July 10, presented by Fond-du-Luth Casino. The new block party will feature the music of the band The Cactus Blossoms, who are an American alternative country and indie folk band based in Minneapolis.

They have previously opened for Trampled by Turtles at Bayfront and are very active on the festival circuit throughout the Midwest.

Joining The Cactus Blossoms will be local favorites Boxcar, who will start the night off with their country-rock sounds.

The block party will be held in the 1st Avenue East to 2nd Avenue East block.

What else will Downtown Duluth Days offer?

Much like the previous rendition of this newly-branded event, there will be vendors, live music, food, shopping, and interactive experiences through parts of Downtown Duluth during the event.

This year's event will have new hours, from 10 am to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 9, and from 10 am to 5 pm on Thursday, July 10, with the block party happening after.

Food and merchandise vendors, activities, and attractions will line Superior Street once again this year. Events like the 5K, inflatables for the kids, and some other popular features will return.
