The Bentleyville Tour of Lights has become a beloved tradition for thousands of people in its 21 years of existence. The immensely popular free attraction that's been held at Duluth's Bayfront Festival Park for 17 of those years is now in the running for an exciting national honor.

USA Today's 10 Best series is turning its sights on holiday attractions as the season arrives, and one of their 10 Best lists is "Best Public Holiday Lights Display".

The publication recently announced its field of 20 public light displays up for vote, and Duluth's Bentleyville Tour of Lights is literally at the top of the list of candidates! Now, to be fair, that's because the list is in alphabetical order, but no matter how they order the list, it is always #1 in the hearts of those who have visited!

Bentleyville is in competition against some other pretty notable holiday light displays across the country, including the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in New York City, Holiday in Paradise in West Palm Beach, Florida, and the Capitol Holiday Tree in Madison, Wisconsin.

Voting just opened, and will run through noon Eastern Time (11 am Duluth time) on December 1. People can vote once per day until the polls close, and the 10 winning displays being named to USA Today's 10 Best list will be officially announced on Wednesday, December 10.

One of the things that sets Duluth's Bentleyville attraction apart from some of the others is that it is an entire tour of lights, complete with treats, and Santa is even on location. While some of the competitors do have more involved displays, some of them are just some nice Christmas trees and other decorations nearby.

Bentleyville has come out on top in years past, which is no surprise! If you'd like to place your vote for this year to help Bentleyville be named one of the 10 Best for 2025, you can place your vote here.

The 15 Snowiest Winters On Record In Duluth History

Since the National Weather Service began keeping weather records in Duluth in the late 1800s, here are the 15 winters with the highest snowfall totals on historical record.

It is worth noting that the official records from 1941-today have been recorded at the area now known as the Duluth International Airport (away from the lake, on top of the hill). Before then, various locations closer to Lake Superior had been used for official weather recording data. For anyone that knows anything about how Lake Superior and the hill play a role in temperature and snow, you can see how this makes older records inherently different.

While these records note the "snowiest winters", they actually include all seasonal snowfall from July 1 through June 30 of the following year.
