You Must Try The Hidden Menu Upgrade At Superior’s Boulder Tap House
It's been a while since I've been to the Boulder Tap House in Superior, Wisconsin. We were graciously invited to the soft opening, where we tried out their menu and gave the staff a stress test. It was good then, but now they've expanded quite a bit with their menu. I tried something new last night that I just have to share. And by share, I mean the story. I'm not sharing these potatoes with you, you'll have to get your own.
Boulder Tap House - Superior
Boulder Tap House is where the old Grizzly's in Superior used to be. Now, it's a fresh brand new building with an open concept. There are sports TVs on throughout the restaurant. A large bar is in the middle of the restaurant, with booth and table seating surrounding. They even have a patio area with a door that opens up when the weather is nice. (the like 3 weeks a year in Superior, where it's warm enough.)
My wife and I stopped there for a date night dinner last night. First thing I'll say is the service was fantastic! Shout out to our server, Theya, who did a great job. COVID hit the industry hard, and for a while there it was so hard to find and train servers. So, I felt it was important to give the wait staff a shoutout. They did awesome.
Upgrade Your Side?
I'm a sucker for garlic parmesean wings, so I ordered those. I was looking to add a side of fries to the order, but I wasn't feeling like beer-battered fries. I searched the menu for something else when I saw an 'upgrade your side' option for Tap House Potatoes. OK, what's the deal here?
I asked our server if I could get a side of that, and she directed me to the appetizers. For $5.99, you can get a big basket of Tap House Potatoes. Ok, sign me up. You can upgrade a side on a burger for an extra $1 to get these as well.
What are Tap House Potatoes?
On their menu, Tap House Potatoes are described as fresh spiral potatoes, cut in-house, deep fried, and served with Burger Co sauce. You can add seasoning to it for an extra $1. Choose between ranch, dill pickle, Cajun, or lemon pepper buffalo.
We ordered them with ranch seasoning. Oh. My. God. They were good. Our eyes lit up after the first bite. They are crispy on the outside, but soft in the middle. It's almost like a thick Kettle Chip cooked just before it gets crunchy. If you like French fries, chips, or any potato, you have to try it.
The Burger Co sauce was really good, too. I need to go back and try one of their burgers with the sauce. My wife ordered the Street Corn Bowl with Chicken and that was also fantastic!
