Apparently, Everyone Is Now Moving To This Wisconsin City
There are a lot of studies done about the advantages and even disadvantages of different parts of the country.
An example is the recent employment report that listed the best places for jobs in the United States. That study ranked Wisconsin at #11 for jobs, with neighboring Minnesota coming in at #3.
Then, who could forget the study earlier this year ranking the snobbiest cities in all of Wisconsin? While you can take that study with a grain of salt, you're still likely to think twice before moving to a city high on that list.
So, where in Wisconsin is the best place to move to? One recent study dug into that very question and you may be surprised at the result.
Determining The Top Move-To City WithIn A State
To determine the top move-to city in every state, moveBuddha looked at its most recent mover search data to compile a list of moves planned for this year.
The data used for this analysis includes searches made at any time between July 1, 2023, and March 3, 2024, where searches indicated they were planning to move at any time in 2024.
Only cities with at least 25 searches for moves both in and out were considered, resulting in three states (Mississippi, North Dakota, and West Virginia) being excluded due to a lack of sufficiently representative city-specific data.
They then also analyzed Zillow Home Value Index data, from January 2024, home averages, and U.S. Census population estimates.
The Top Move-To City In The State Of Wisconsin
Once all the data was processed, there was one city that was the clear winner in Wisconsin.
The most popular city to move to in Wisconsin was Madison. The state's capital has an estimated population of just under 273,000. It had an in-to-out ratio score of 1.39 and average Zillow Home Prices from January 2024 were $359,889.

A U.S. News & World Report study had ranked Madison as the 14th best place to live in the United States stating that "against a backdrop of high-tech businesses and acclaimed academic institutions, Madison, Wisconsin, exudes the casual, down-to-earth feel you'd expect in the capital of America's Dairyland."
The report goes on to note Madison's reputation as a hotbed of the health care, information technology, and manufacturing industries and compliments the city for its rich arts and food scenes that would likely impress even the most cosmopolitan newcomers.
Another feather in the cap for Madison is that Love Exploring named Madison as the most underrated city in Wisconsin, stating that the "small, liberal, and friendly city with a big student population is a charming place to visit. It's an easy city to get around thanks to its network of cycle routes.
